Following in the tradition of Whitmans’s “Democratic Vistas” and Stevens’ “A Necessary Angel,” Once Empires is a collection of poems that aim to make similar statements about poetic theory in the American language, while remaining outside of the formal statements and official policies of government.
Jean-Charles Wohkittel studied poetry and literary stylistics at Wesleyan University, before becoming Program Director for National Security Affairs.
